FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:Kate Adamson, survivor of a catastrophic, double brainstem stroke to address the Subcommittee on Criminal Justice, Drug Policy & Human Resources Government Reform on behalf of incapacitated Americans who must rely on others to meet their daily health care needs. Washington, DC - Disability activist Kate Adamson will address a congressional oversight committee and share her story of catastrophic illness in hopes of bringing understanding to the needs of the incapacitated adults who have not yet entered the dying process. Her talk will focus on the struggle she faced after being struck down at 33 years old by a catastrophic, double brainstem stroke. Known internationally and nationally for her work on behalf of the disabled, Kate was on life support and dependent on a feeding tube for all of her nourishment. The doctors offered very little hope of Kate's recovery, saying she had a one in a million chance of recovery. Today, after years of physical therapy that continues even now, Kate is fully functional except for some paralysis on the left side of her body. Ms. Adamson has a unique understanding of the struggles faced by the disabled and their family & friends. To schedule an interview with Kate Adamson, contact publicist, Wanda L.
