The Heart and Soul award is a prestigious award, given by the Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce Women in Business Committee. The Heart and Soul award recognizes prominent Los Angeles women for outstanding contributions through activities with mentoring girls, working with children, bringing attention to women’s health issues and other charitable activities. It also recognizes their success in business and dedication to service and excellence.

The Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce Women in Business provides programs and opportunities in leadership, development, mentoring, education and networking for women (and men) in business. Monthly luncheons & a Fall Tea Service awards women who have gone above and beyond in serving their community.

“It is a great honor to receive this award,” says Ms. Adamson. “Ten years ago I lay paralyzed in my hospital bed unable to move or speak. I wondered what was going to happen to me. I never imagined that 10 years later, I'd be walking and talking and touching so many lives through the story of my experience.

In helping others, I have helped myself in my own recovery because it's taken the focus off my own difficulties. I'm always reminded of the quote by Winston Churchill:

~”‘We make a living by what we get; but we make a life by what we give.’”
